What is the opposite of procrastination?
Precrastination, the opposite of procrastination, is more than just a sign of our busy existence. Even pigeons do it, indicating that it’s a behaviour that is programmed within humans. There aren’t many factors that cause procrastination. It might be motivated by the notion that completing tasks as soon as possible is desirable to lighten the burden on our working memory. Or the notion that completing the task itself is a reward in and of itself. Or that performing the activity itself is satisfying.
An example would be that a precrastinator might be very diligent, energetic, and agreeable. A procrastinator typically works quickly. Even if they are aware that waiting a little longer can yield better results, they feel pressure to finish a task. Procrastination also makes it possible to have a reduced mental load, similar to the urgency effect. While they can get things done, procrastinators find it difficult to let their creative juices begin to flow.
The majority of the time, completing quick activities may make you feel good, but were you able to finish that task and have you given it any thought? Despite how satisfying it is to complete work right away, doing so may not be as beneficial. Rushing in too quickly could result in wasted effort. You might need to redo the task if it is not completed correctly or fully. You would have saved time and effort if you had done a little planning.
